Sydney's Story

aka "Sydney's Adoption Thingy"

Hi, my name is Sydney, and I'm going to tell you a little about my life. I was adopted when I was born. I've grown up knowing I was adopted and that my birth mother had to give me up when I was young.  I totally love my life with my adoptive parents. They are my mother and father, nothing less. I am their daughter, even if we don’t share the same blood. They took me in, and now I am their family and they are mine. And they always were.

Although some kids grow up in foster homes and then don’t accept that their foster parents are their mother and father, it was never like that for me. I’m spoiled. I’m an only child, and my real parents (not my birth parents) made me who I am. I’m not mad at my birth mother because she gave me up. I understand and respect her decision. She was young and she just didn’t have the resources to take care of me. I have been able to get to know her, and we are friends. She now has one baby girl named Fiona.

Some people who are adopted dislike their birth parents for their decision. I just want to let you know, I love my parents, the people who brought me up, and I love my birth parents for making the right decision for me. However much they didn’t want to give me up, it made my life all the better. I am now happy, healthy and in a loving, caring and totally my own home. I wouldn’t give this up for anything in the entire world.
